Danner hit the reset button with the creation of the Tachyon, taking its typical boot design and completely overhauling it to remove extra weight — down to a mere 26 ounces — without sacrificing any of its legendary comfort or performance. The upper is completely synthetic for superior weight savings with the added benefit of an ultra-fast dry time. Speed lacing and a three-layer comfort system work together to create a snug, comfortable fit. Most boots in this weight category have a composite rubber outsole, but the Tachyon features a true rubber outsole for superior abrasion resistance and traction. New for 2014, the Tachyon received a few upgrades. The new Tachyon GTX LE boot features a polishable toe and GORE-TEX lining. MSRP $150.
Elbeco’s Meridian Modular Outerwear System (MMOS) offers complete weather protection and is capable of meeting core public safety demands for warmth, protection, visibility and identification. Features include 360-degree telescopic sleeves for full arm movement and a front-shoulder fabric flap that functions as a second-layer rain barrier. The taslan nylon upper-waist lining adds protection from your utility belt and gear, while the elasticized waistband keeps the air out. Unlike models featuring waterproof liner constructions, which allow water to collect in the outer shell and cause discomfort, the Hiptex 3000 is actually bonded to the outer shell to function as a natural skin, preventing water penetration while allowing for breathability. You will not only feel dry, you’ll be dry. Other notable features include two inverted, pleat-front patch pockets with top and side entry, wicking lining and flaps secured with hook-and-loop closures, in addition to a nylon drawstring with plastic toggle, double-snap front closure and three-snap attachments. Elbeco’s Summit Lifesaver II Reversible Jacket offers plenty of visibility and comfort whether worn during the day or nighttime. The reversible jacket features a bonded Hiptex membrane for completely waterproof, windproof and breathable comfort. The inner fabric is hi-vis fluorescent lime/yellow for maximum visibility and ANSI/ISEA Class II-compliant. The Hiptex membrane is made up of billions of micropores that are smaller than water but larger than vapor, helping the Summit Lifesaver II Reversible Jacket shut out rain and snow while allowing perspiration to escape.
