The latest addition to the Tungsten brand, manufactured by Armament Systems and Procedures, is the rechargeable Tungsten USB. When low on battery power, simply plug it into any laptop computer or micro USB-compatible cell phone charger. It comes with a retractable cord, car charger and wall charger. However, the lithium-ion battery should provide a couple hours of power before needing a charge. MSRP $105.
Designed for the law enforcement and private security industries, the Street Defender is machined from high-strength aerospace industry standard aluminum. An O-ring sealing and injection-molded positive safety feature protect against accidental discharges. The active inserts contain 30 one-half second bursts of potent, 2 million heat units-rated oleoresin capsicum, a proven irritant/deterrent. The training inserts hold an inert, lightly scented aerosol. The effective range is 10 feet. Each device is performance-tested for function and individually date-coded for reliability. MSRP $44.
Technical Sophistication
The Talon is Armament Systems and Procedures’ new offering this year. The DiscLoc, button-release baton, like all the company’s expandable batons, can be deployed with a sharp, sweeping action. However, with a push of the button the Talon can also be pulled out with the opposite hand, which allows for easy deployment in confined spaces. This is made possible through the use of two opposing discs on the inside of the baton that secure each section of the shaft in place. To retract the baton, simply push the button again and either press on the end or place the Talon in the included sheath. MSRP $175.
ASP’s (Armament Systems and Procedures) new Agent Baton is small, lightweight, easy to grip, discreet and extremely effective. Made from aluminum and high grade carbon steel, this baton has a striking surface rating of 240,000 PSI tensile strength, which in layman’s terms translates into a devastatingly low profile baton that packs a punch. When fully retracted, the baton measures 7.75 inches but rapidly extends to become a 16-inch LeverLoc less-than-lethal device. It also comes with a snap lock clip, which enables it to be carried in a range of positions.
