When your success and safety are on the line, your gear should be as responsive and effective as you are. Manufacturers are constantly chasing the next innovations to help law enforcement officers do their jobs as efficiently as possible and protect them from danger. Some of these advances feature dazzling, cutting-edge gadgetry — from biometric identification systems to lasers, LEDs, LCDs and thermal imaging. Other developments are more outwardly subtle, utilizing state-of-the-art materials and ingenious design to enhance basic tools and provide solutions to everyday frustrations. Whether high-tech or high-concept, even small details can add up to big performance improvements. Direct from the 2015 SHOT Show, here’s a selection of the newest products that have been expertly fashioned with your needs in mind.
Bates Strike Boots
It’s not easy to create footwear that keeps the elements out while letting fresh air circulate, but Bates has risen to the challenge with the debut of its Strike line. Coming in April, these waterproof, highly durable boots are also breathable and comfortable enough for all-day wear thanks to the newly developed Endurance Performance System. The four-part technology consists of a slip-resistant, multi-terrain rubber lug outsole; a nylon shank adding support and stability; a dual-density EVA midsole that absorbs shocks and redistributes pressure; and a dual-density memory-foam footbed for ultimate arch support and cushioning. Available in 6- and 8-inch versions, the Strike Boot is designed to stop foot fatigue in its tracks while keeping wearers safe, dry and looking sharp.
Liberty Safe Home Defender Smart Vaults
When Speed and Security Count

Liberty’s new HD Series features the most reliable biometric entry system available, with supreme accuracy and the lowest failure rate on the market. A simple finger swipe gains entry to the vault in less than two seconds, and the system can remember 15 different fingerprints. The HDX-150 is designed to be portable and fits easily in a drawer or car, while the spacious HDX-250 has holes for direct mounting. Both feature a lighted interior and a heavy-duty 14-gauge steel door with reinforced latch system built to resist prying and other attempts to gain entry. MSRP $229 to $279.

The ML300LX is available in both two- and three-cell versions, each offering five different modes (full power, low power, momentary, eco and strobe) in four activity-based function sets to choose from (general, outdoor, law enforcement and tactical). It’s just as easy to operate, with ambidextrous control tabs that allow instant activation or deactivation. The CMR-206 runs continuously for two hours on a single lithium battery, features a five-minute auto shut-off for power conservation, and offers three operating modes — momentary, strobe and constant-on — to suit users’ needs and preferences. With a sleek, contoured design that prevents snagging on clothing, this is one of the smallest laser sights on the market. MSRP $229.
