Police Week Preview
Officers around the country will honor their fallen brethren and be recognized for their brave service during National Police Week 2012. The weeklong event in Washington, D.C., in May includes the arrival of the Police Unity Tour, Candlelight Vigil and, finally, the National Peace Officers' Memorial Service held every May 15. Check the Journal for dates and times of events.
Coping with the Loss of a Partner
While we honor our brothers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, it’s also important to remember those who served next to them — their partners, who cope with tragic losses every day. FOP members talk to the
Journal about their experiences, and experts give advice on how to cope if you, a fellow officer or a family member ever end up grieving in the same situation.
Strategic Communications: Making It Happen
In Part I of our Strategic Communications series, "Prepare to do Battle," we discussed
why proper communication is important; in Part II, we'll discuss
how. Even the smallest lodge can benefit from creating a marketing budget, and we'll walk you through exactly how to do it without breaking your bank. Along the way, we'll provide stories from other lodges that have faced the same question — "How much should we spend on communications?" — and how they fared.
Grill 'Em
The arrival of warmer weather is the perfect time to gather friends and family around the picnic table, as the
FOP Journal officially deems 2012 the year of grill. We perfectly pair expert advice and delectable recipes with the latest equipment for your inner grill master.
From the SHOT Show 2012: Firearms and Weapons
Straight from the show floor, the
Journal highlights the hottest items from the 2012 NSSF SHOT show in Las Vegas, both of the tactical and non-tactical persuasion. We start with our preferred picks of firearms and round out the journey with the best in modern weaponry.
